Religion and politics have been very closely intertwined since the beginning of history. Very often the political identity of a state has been held together by religion. Are nation and states ready to embrace secularism and devoid religion from government and administration.
Divine Origin
Since the beginning of time, religion has been used by the rulers of states to gain authority. Rulers of almost every state have claimed to be the representative of God on earth.
Modern nations are either secular or have declared state religions. States with endorsed religion base their choice on demographics or the legacy that has been passed down and of a population of about seven Billion the majority follow some form of religion.

Countries with adopted religion, provide for certain privilege and endorse the state sponsored advocacy of the religion tenets. The legislature and judiciary make laws and adjudicate to deference to the religious ethical principles. There is also a compulsion to tаkе up religious studies.
How Secular is Secular
Secular states could be atheistic or may be more tolerant in the freedom to choose any religion. In history the evolution of a nation from being a religious state to a secular state has been viewed as progressive reform. The interests of minor religious groups are protected by giving them certain privileges in some states. In many western countries, calendars include many Christian holidays, such as Christmas.
Secularism has been the growing trend with world nations. In most European countries, strict equal opportunities and diversity laws have been implemented.
Religious terrorism across the world is rising. A number of terrorist attacks, including the 9/11 bombings, have made the international community more sensitive to religious issues.
