An Eight-Year Reflection on Steemit [Since November 16, 2016]

Time flies so fast, as if 8 years ago felt like just a few months ago, but a long journey has been passed in that period. Why is that? because the journey was passed by enjoying every moment, without complaining and doing even the smallest things with enthusiasm and responsibility.

But time will feel very long when waiting, waiting without doing anything, I think everyone will feel the same way. In a simple case, if you are going to be faced with an interview test in the next few days, with anxiety you will feel a psychological burden, will I be able to go through the interview well, will I be accepted?.

Those are unimportant questions and often arise, causing emotional disturbances. In fact, such conditions do not need to occur when utilizing the available time to improve self-competence.

That's what happened during the last 8 years on Steemit, I just became a user who continued to think positively, not obsessed about things that I considered unimportant, all I did was use every available time to create content.

I don't have a big target, in principle, I just try to be better than before, even though sometimes I don't have time for Steemit because of my job in government and other responsibilities as a father of two children.

Exploring the Steemit Platform: An Introduction

Previously I was a content creator on YouTube and a Blogger, by utilizing my free time in the afternoon after office hours were over, my habit was to gather with other friends at the Coffee Shop, for me and the Acehnese people in general, coffee shops and sips of Aceh's bitter coffee provide a lot of inspiration, so it's no wonder that Aceh (the province where I was born) is nicknamed the land of a thousand coffee shops.

Every coffee shop is filled with many visitors with various professions, there they discuss work/business and other discussions. All the activities carried out are very positive. So did I, I took advantage of it by becoming a YouTuber and Blogger.

Did I fail there? No... I was successful and had several YouTube channels and bloggers that had been monetized. I even got some money to buy a computer and smartphone, but changes in policy made me stop and leave both.

One of my friends loves to write, even his work has been recognized nationally, he has won a national writing competition, one day when we stopped at youtube and blogs, he told me that there is a platform (steemit) that can channel interests and talents in writing, or other creative content, but he said the payment is in the form of cryptocurrency.

At first I was not interested, but as a form of appreciation for him, I registered this steemit account to coincide with November 16, 2016. My characteristics are different from him, I who do not have the ability to write only use photography as daily content.

At that time, steemit users in Indonesia were not like today, in Lhokseuwmawe City there were only 2 users, the rest were dozens of users from North Aceh Regency and Banda Aceh City. With minimal knowledge about steem, my friend and I continued to write.

Confidence in the platform increased when my friend started withdrawing to local currency (IDR), I was obsessed with being like him and my other friends also registered.

Experience on Steem

Steem has had a positive impact on my growth and development in real life, although only active for 2 years, but I have been able to complete my 2 studies in 4 years. I continued my education from Diploma to Bachelor and continued my professional education for 2 years. All costs incurred came from steem.

I have even bought several cell phones, motorbikes, wedding expenses and even additional business capital. This really benefits me a lot. I decided to stop because of the change in platform ownership and returned in 2021.

When I returned to steem, it was as if steem was something new, I was just trying to produce content like before, but it turned out that was a wrong view. With limited writing skills, I tried to adapt and tried to write as best I could, indeed writing is very difficult, but I got used to it and have been able to write even with irregular sentences.

Charity became a milestone in my growth and development, I started joining Steem Better Life' throughsteemamal`. with a background in health education, I focus on the health sector, although I help with other technical activities.

One of the happiest things is when using Steem to help people in need, handling patients with difficult economic conditions, responding to emergency disasters and even realizing the construction of 1 house unit.

I started by becoming a Greeter Helper, then moved on to Country Representative, Curation Team, and now I’m a Steem Representative. My goal has always been to grow Steem Power, and I’ve been working hard for almost 2 years to do just that. I’ve been Powering Up 100% every day!

What are the results? Currently, I have almost 100K Steem, this is impossible if you only think about it, but do nothing to increase SP. I realize that this SP is a long-term investment, writers not only get rewards from their posts, but curation is an effective part of increasing curation.

In conclusion, achieving growth and development necessitates consistency and the judicious allocation of time. A well-defined vision for Steem is essential for success. While results may not be immediately apparent, patience and perseverance will yield positive outcomes in the future.
