Handycrafts: Designing Lavender Flowers from Drinking Water Straws

This proverb describes the importance of 3 aspects in life as a manifestation of happiness. In this post, I will share a work/handicraft using simple media so that it becomes a product that is useful and has selling value.

Using drinking water straws and iron wire, I have produced lavender flowers which can be used as table decorations. Here's a look at how it works, but first there are several ingredients that need to be prepared.

The first step that needs to be taken is to cut the concrete wire measuring between 25 and 30 centimetres. You can also increase the size of the concrete wire according to your wishes. In principle, the more concrete wire is used as flower stalks, the more attractive the final result will be.

I cut almost 40 pieces of concrete wire for 1 lavender vase with varying lengths.

Then choose a purple drinking water straw as the flower and cut each part at a distance of 1 millimetre, here it requires patience and hard work because if you don't cut the part carefully it will cut the drinking water straw into 2 parts.

What is needed here is that the sections cut at a distance of 1 millimetre will be wrapped around the concrete wire and will resemble lavender flowers. Look at the two pictures above carefully.

The results of the winding can be seen in the picture above, wind as much as possible on the surface of the concrete wire, because as I mentioned above, the more rods there are, the more beautiful the results obtained.

For green drinking water straws, use lavender flower leaves. Divide the surface of the water straw into 3 parts that resemble leaves.

Glue the cut leaves to the surface of the flower that has been wrapped previously, using stick glue as adhesive.

Insert pebbles into a used mineral water bottle at the bottom of the packed drink bottle. The aim is to support the weight of the flowers that are put into the bottle which will be used as a flower vase. On the surface, use a floral sponge to attach the stems of the lavender flowers.

At the end, decorate the flower pot/vase with cloth paper or gift wrapping paper. Look at the picture below which is the final result of a handicraft that I worked on for almost 3 days.

Because my cellphone was having trouble, I didn't capture the picture until it was finished. For example, the process of designing flower pots and the procedures for arranging them in vases. I am grateful that every image is automatically updated to Google Photos so that it can be taken via the web.
