Steemit is an open platform. Here the contribution of everyone from developers to general users is undeniable. I feel that if general users don't enrich this platform with their valuable contributions then only developing its infrastructure will be sheer valuless. Again, if the development team of this platform is very weak and ineffective, users will turn away from it. It will fail to gain popularity. Therefore, general users and the development team are closely involved to each other.

I missed the old steemit days where users are rewarded for meaningful contributions like graphics, proofreading and programming. etc... Not to disrespect sharing daily people's lives, but in general, people who doesn't know a thing on steemit loves to read what will pique their interest also according to recent studies that people's attention is around 8 seconds now which drops 25% in just a few years, so if just by the title or image preview of the posts new users will easily get bored. why users of famous social media app even tho they don't get rewarded still remains is because of the satisfaction or enjoyment that they feel while using the app.
