"Often times I fix my early morning workouts by 5am. But when I wake, I have more urge to read or write a piece than workout. So I'd be like. I'll go again tomorrow the workout can wait and tomorrow, same will happen and again i'll say the work out can wait and the day after I keep saying the same thing and going through the same circle with No progress."

Do you know what that's called?

Its procrastination. And that's the city I find myself each time I keep postponing what I need do.

Have you been in such situation before?
In your case, you may be trying to read, but you keep sleeping off or you have a task you intended to complete but that delay just occurs that makes you suspend it.

Many times, we are all victims of procrastination. Others times we might not even know how much we are procrastinating especially when we don't give a thought to it.

Procrastination simply is delaying.

Delaying what ought to have been done. Sometimes we procrastinate because we are just lazy, don't have the urge to do it anymore or give ourselves excuses that stops us from achieving our goal.

Other times our reason for procrastinating are external, somewhat beyond our control. But will you give in?

Hold on. Don't answer yet until we have enumerated the resultant effect of procrastination. Shall we?🧘‍♀️

  • Procrastination makes you heap a pile of unfinished duties. Some heap of files you see at peoples office isn't because they get to work alot, sometimes its the after effect of procrastination.

  • It slows down your progress. When you are supposed to move to other things, you get draged back to some suspended activity you had postponed earlier on. In the case of a group work, your peers may get higher than you or more progressive than you do.

  • Procrastinating gives you a bad tag. People who know you wont want to work with you bcos they know they'll have to wait till the last minute which may not even go well at all times. They know and spread the gospel that you are the last minute guy.

  • It makes you unnecessarily tired because you end up doing a junk of work all at once especially at die minutes. You get overly stressed and can even fall sick.

  • Procrastination can being drastic dangerous effects.** >"Delay is dangerous"<** you do hear. Its no joke. Leverage on opportunities I always say, but a procrastinator will find it hard to do so because he is lagging behind.
Sometimes you forget you had some postponed activities and it happens to slide by without your notice.

I remember planning to go for a friend's mum burial. I planned to write down the date but I kept posting and forgetting and postponing. Then the day came, unfortunately I thought it was the next. That's how I missed it and I suffered guilt for long time after romiding that nothing would stop me from going there.

Back to our question, Will you give in to procrastination?
You'll answer a yes/no for yourself after understanding the benefits of avoiding procrastination.

  • Joy: There's inner joy when you have less task. When the heap of files on tour table are cut down. You have this deep sense of accomplishment.

  • Right on time: Avoiding delay gets things done in time. You save yourself and others the last minute stress and anxiety.

  • Scholarly work: Things done in time are delivered in the most careful and appealing way with low or zero mistake. Of course, Scholarly works get more accolades and you want nothing less right?

Yea, i know.👀
But do you keep procrastinating that workout too?
Or do you still have uncleared clutters?
How about those books and files on your desk, are you done with those already?
