Yesterday was a big day for me, it was the first time I went to Tunisia International Book Fair after 10 years of absence. I don't even live 20 km from the capital but why I never dared to go there and now I bitterly regret it after the crazy day I spent yesterday.
So I went there on Sunday November 14 with my two children and my wife. After about an hour's drive, we were in front of the book fair. There for me it is the first wonder.
I was pleasantly surprised to see a long line of visitors lining up to enter. I have never seen so many Tunisians, of all ages, conditions and sexes, so numerous and disciplined waiting their turn to enter. 'stock up on ... books. The line was so long that it reached the main entrance door and had to meander two or three places so as not to overflow outside. "Thank you, my God" to the address of those people who were thought to be allergic to reading.
The Salon is made up of several spaces specially designed to accommodate young audiences: library, reading area, illustration area. All the publishing houses were also present to present their classics and their novelties. In order to multiply the forms of contact between the public and the world of books, meetings with authors and illustrators, as well as rounds of reading and debates were organized throughout the day.
We strolled for a while but we quickly realized that if we wanted to find certain stands we would have to rely on the plans because there are really a good number of publishers at the show and I think that t is impossible to see everything in one day. At the same time I think it is the biggest bookstore in Tunisia and this book fair during the week it takes place. So we quickly went to the Konooz stand. By this time I have already bought 4 books.
We then strolled through several booths before I discovered that my favorite author "Youssef Seddik" was already at a book signing - earlier than expected - and there was no wait. So I let myself be tempted by his first novel so I had heard about it and went to get it signed. He is a very smiling, very polite, very pleasant old man. I'm glad I met him.
My children first participated in two rounds of readings, led by educators from the Salon, on the theme of the environment. The reading gave rise to a little debate with the children. They were then able to walk the shelves to discover the books for sale in the stands of each publisher.
Finally, we met a club named DCX that is a creator of immersive and interactive cultural experiences empowered by technology (RV, AR, gaming & application), which offered an interactive visit experience for children by diving into the city of Carthage during the 2nd century BC and discovering the secrets of the Carthaginians! This meeting was particularly appreciated by the young people who then had the opportunity to discuss with the club's team and ask him questions, especially about his career.
My second 100% Power up i November
My total reward last week was 18.756 SBD which I redeemed through the Steemit platform internal market for around 220.468 STEEM STEEM at a rate of 0.0850770.
