Hello steemians,

Today I present to you an article in which I try to find meaning in my passion for horses. Why do we ride horses? What's the point of doing all this after all? What are we looking for when we ride? Is it simply the company of a horse, the need to love and feel loved, the desire to be in control?

Beauty of the horse

I think what struck me most the first time I saw a horse was its good looks (except when it's grazing, which is ugly though). What could be more beautiful than a horse galloping freely, hair in the wind, tail in a column? And any force when you feel the vibrations intensifies as the sheer pace of hooves pounding the ground approaches.

Anyone who enjoys watching a horse run and play in the pasture, we have all witnessed a new horse being released for the first time into a new pasture. We've all seen him run in all directions, kick at any cost, change footing in the air, and stop by sliding down the hoses to immediately turn around and start again with even greater force in the air. An other way. We also saw him take a few strides, high neck, vertical muzzle, feathery tail in this airy and cool look. After a while, a crowd gathered in front of the fence, and occasionally some cars driving on the road stopped to watch the scene. Everyone has already experienced these few minutes of great observations.

So a horse is the most beautiful animal in existence, what could make more sense than wanting to own one?

Understanding the horse

The next step was the desire to understand the horse so that it would become its language as well. This is possible through observation but also much more quickly by paying attention to all the work and all the research that has been done on equine behavior (the science of horse behaviour).

There are many languages in a horse, there is a language of his body that you can easily perceive when you learn that you should not approach a horse whose ears are turned back. To fully understand him, one must be able to know what he is thinking. But his mind does not express itself as easily as his feelings, for it is evident that it is very difficult to detect a slightly dull appearance or a drop in a horse's morale.

Full understanding of the horse is the only way to develop a relationship of complicity and friendship with it. Only on this basis should one think about riding a horse.

Take ownership of the horse

With a horse that is healthy in body and mind, all dreams become possible: drives, completions, races, horse ball... And when a horse enjoys its discipline, it gives its best.

I think all riders are looking in some way for a fusion with the horse, a ride with thought that can bring them as close as possible to the centaur myth.

Going a little further in my personal reasoning, I would like to say that the small peculiarity which characterizes my passion for horse riding and especially for dressage, is the desire to possess the strength and beauty of a horse. Finally, it is to find under saddle the same graceful motions, turns and passages which any horse in its natural state without a rider is capable of.

All of this, of course, while maintaining the physical and moral integrity of the horse in order to maintain a good relationship.

It's up to you now! Tell me what motivates you to persevere in your riding practice, describe those little moments with the horse that make you smile and lift your spirits.

My best regards,
@kouba01

A relative in spirit, lo and behold ;-))

When I started spending more time in the stable than with friends as a child, horses were the easier company for me: straightforward, direct, clear in their communication. Humans, on the other hand, are strategists and always deliberate in their behaviour. Through horses I learned to understand myself better.

Riding is still the most natural way of moving around that I can imagine. There is nothing constructed or technical involved and it depends only on the interaction of two, actually different, beings....
