Front view of caves
On last Saturday I visited the world heritage site situated in Mumbai city. It has two names Mahakali caves and Kondivite caves. This caves were built in 6th century by Buddhist monks. It is built by cutting 19 rocks and total 9 caves are there. Sadly it is ignored by tourist and local peoples. Government of India doing great job as they maintain this caves and keep this place very clean. Also they well connected this caves with bus service from Andheri east railway station. You will only have to spent 5 rupees to reached the caves from Andheri railway station. 5 rupees are equaling to 0.10 US dollars. Let me explain all the things one by one.

Information of the place
As I earlier said it is less crowded place and ignored by most of the tourist. As anyone who visits the Mumbai firstly goes to the Gateway of India and Marine drive. But anyone who wants to explored real Mumbai and its history those are comes to the visit this caves. In last post I visited the Kanheri caves borivali. From those cave one secret tunnel comes in this caves as this are part of those caves.
Its a dream place for anyone who loves the history and I like to explore historical places a lot. I always checking each and every detailing of the places and imagine how they were did in 6th century without any advanced technology like today we have.
I am thinking how they carved this beautiful carving
Carvings
As you saw in the above picture all carvings were carved out in very detailed way but those are made from sandstone which results that this all carvings were vanished over the period of time.
5 head snakes carved outside of caves door
As you saw in above pictures in the inside of caves there is sitting arrangement and earlier there is buddha statute inside the caves but those statue were move to the museum. It is the place which gives the inner peace and as it is less crowded place you will able to spend as much as time you want to explore. It is open between 9 AM to 6 PM so whenever you want to visit this caves will plan accordingly.

My experience
Actually I visited lot of historical site but this site is so clean and everything is perfectly maintain. There is security guard who always watches you and protect this precious site also other staffs are so friendly. It is must visit heritage site. It is only 9 caves but it takes my 3 hours time. Some people complete all the caves within 15 minutes but I always have hobbit of watching and analyzing the every details and carvings. Even I am reading the every history behind that place also reading the instructions written on the site. By this way I enjoyed the exploration and also one of my cute friend is with me every time.
