Did you know you can bring whatever skills you have into the Web3 space and make more money from it???
I didn't know this in details until I attended this Web3 event.
How it all started!
My friend chatted me up and invited me to a web3 space meet up which would be happening on the 25th -26th of this month and since it wasn't far from where I stay, why not I asked myself.
I was so eager to attend as I had been hearing about Web3 but didn't really know much about it, but this time there would be live speakers, I would get to interact with people who are making wave in the space, connect and of course get the opportunity to have physical mentorship.
Scheduled meet up day 1 and I was pumped.
I hurriedly went inside as the hall was jammed. People from all over Nigeria had come down to get knowledge. I quickly got settled in and comfortable. There were 8 sessions for the day 1 and we were already into the 3rd session. Speakers came, spoke, panels were formed, questions were asked and so we went.
For someone who isn't really into the web 3 space but would love to learn, a lot of what they said sounded like jargon in my ears and i wasn't really following, but I stayed because i wanted to start familiarising myself with their world and terms. My staying put paid off when one particular speaker Dr Oshodi Odunayo (A medical practitioner )came up for his session.
He spoke on the topic of Blockchain for beginners
Blockchain is a distributed ledger technology that enables secure, transparent and recognised record keeping.
He also told us that Blockchain has evolved into broader industries such that whatever niche you are in or skill you have, you can integrate it into the Web3 space and create your unique signature with it. This was evident by the various speakers who were in different industries ranging from arts to healthcare, to engineering, to fashion etc.
All these were very good points, but "HOW DOES BLOCKCHAIN WORK??
He told us that blockchain is a chain of blocks, also called data records linked together in a way that ensures each block is secured and immutable.
Blockchain is decentralised meaning the data is stored across a network of data and no single person controls the Blockchain.
He told us that Opportunities aren't for those waiting, but for those ready to grab it. He said that education means creativity. Instead of looking for jobs, we can create jobs as only Creativity can save us.
He went further to tell us some key features of Blockchain, the types of Blockchain and some areas of our society we can utilize blockchain. I was so impressed with both his teaching approach, what he was teaching and how he taught it.
I say this because the vast majority of attendees were either new to using Web3 or prospective users who needed more insight. He brought this knowledge down to their level and could therefore connect with the listeners.
After the session we had a short networking break which I used to connect with a couple of people including Dr Odunayo.
I also had the privilege to meet with another speaker. One reason this conversation stood out was because of what he was proposing. He was teaching about how to integrate real estate into Web3.
This is a niche I'm very particular about so.ot.naturslly caught my attention. Even though I couldn't stay for his session, we connected and exchanged materials of which I'll be following up.
Here are picture highlights from both the teaching sessions and networking sessions.

One thing I found interesting and absolutely loved was that the majority of attendees were young and vibrant. It pleases me to know that this generation is learning that they can make money legally without getting involved in illegal or fraudulent activities.
Do you agree with me that information is ammunition??. Anyways, I couldn't wait for Day 2 and what new ideas I was going to be learning.
