Dinghy boat is the most popular boat name. All the residents of the riverside communities use this boat to cross the water or for other purposes. Due to its medium size, only one sailor is needed to operate this boat.
Ancient times depended on boats for trade. Small boats are widely used in the riverine regions of Bangladesh. The boats from Bangladesh did not lack any equipment. Motorized boats have been popular in Bangladesh since independence.
In the past, the rivers and canals of Bangladesh were navigable using rafts made of banana trees or wood.
Banana rafts are still prevalent during monsoons. In some areas, earthen pots were tied to bamboo or wooden structures to make rafts.

Two cannot sit side by side because the sides or spread is so narrow. Donga can collapse if you are not careful. To prevent slipping when standing on the bottom of the canoe, the bottom is kept quite thick. Palm trunks do not rot easily, so that the donga can be used for many years.
