Steemit Engagement Challenge S9-W6: "Goal setting for the year

in hive-153970 •  2 years ago

I started writing my goals for the year 2023 in the middle of the year 2022. I remember writing my goals for the year after my birthday last year, and I vowed I was going to follow them to the letter. We all have goals and we hope to do exceedingly well with them. While we cannot say that we will surely achieve all the goals, provided we have them down in writing, and put in effort to get them achieved, we will surely get most of them ticked.

What specific goals did you set for the year?

I do not like to write a million goals at the beginning of the year where I will not be able to achieve 80% of them all. Do not get me wrong, I am not against people who have bullet points of goals they want to achieve, I just love to keep it simple and straight. For the year, I had two goals, which were to gain admission into the University to further my education and to help people who are in rural areas get tested and refer them to a good hospital for treatment on my birthday, even if I cannot fund their hospital. Funny enough, these two goals are already on the verge of getting started.

How have you worked to achieve your set goal?

Since the beginning of the year, I have been working hard to ensure that I gain admission to the University to further my education as a Nurse, and finally, my tireless night of candle burning, even after a stressful day at the hospital paid off. I would be resuming school at the beginning of the next month. I will be studying Nursing and Midwifery, and this is a goal met. The next goal I have is to give free medical checkups to people in rural areas. I was thinking I would have to save a lot from my salary currently as an Intern at the hospital but surprisingly, the managing director of the hospital asked me what I would want for my send-off, and I told him I would love if the company can help sponsor this, and he said that is going to be an easy thing since the hospital is a government-owned but for only people in the oil and gas industry (Specifically NNPC), and has affiliations with international bodies. As of today, he called me to his office and reminded me if I was preparing for the outing and I was elated to say yes. He also told me to study hard and hold a high score because they will be willing to have me back as a proper staff when I am done with school.

How has your goal impacted or will impact others?

Access to proper healthcare services is one thing that a lot of people in my country do not have. If you live in cities and towns, you might assume that people have proper access to quality healthcare but even at that, a lot of people cannot afford it while in rural areas, it is close to impossible to get quality healthcare. With the free testing initiative, a lot of people will have their Blood Pressure, and other vitals checked, helping to have access to proper screening and lab works easily.

In the same light, one reason I intend to study nursing at the university is to be able to help my community. I want to be able to help my country at large and be a part of a world of medical practitioners that would care for people's health. It always gives me great joy to be able to help people with health challenges, and I am sure that my goals are going to help me achieve them.

How have you benefitted from setting and achieving those goals?

It would be a complete lie if I say I haven't benefitted or I won't benefit from the goals I set down. Studying nursing will help me to practice legally instead of being an intern. It will enable me to be able to help a lot of people who suffer from illnesses. The rate at which medical practitioners are going out of the country because they are not properly paid in my country is alarming, so if I am able to study to practice as a nurse, I will be able to help the health sector in my country

With this, I have come to the end of my post, and I will like to invite @preye2, @inspiracion, @simonnwigwe, and @pelon53

Hola Thomisin 😊

Suerte y exitos.
