Save The Earth and leave serene environment for the younger generation

Earth is our home, our only home. Scientists are trying to see is life can be sustained on Mars but it is still not achievable yet.
There's a popular saying that as you may your bed so will you lie on it. Same thing applies to our dear planet earth. The way we keep and maintain it is how it will be sustained or destroyed for us and future generations.
It is sad that in this our present age technology advancements has increasingly destroyed our planet in ways that is alarming.
First we have mega industries that dump waste chemicals into the environment which destroyed the soil, water and air.
This also affects crops and sea foods which also affects the residents who may end up getting poisoned.
With all the sanctions and precautions put in place by government and international bodies, nothing concrete has been done as the big companies keeps getting away with it.

Aside this big shots, we also in our individual life contribute to destroying our planet in our little way.
First of all we drive cars that emit gasses into the atmosphere which depletes our ozone layer. The ozone layer is like a safety blanket which covers the earth atmosphere, it prevents the sun from directly hitting us.
The substances which when released into the atmosphere depletes our ozone layer include chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), halons, carbon tetrachloride, and methyl chloroform. These chemicals were commonly used in aerosol sprays, refrigerants, solvents, and fire extinguishers. When released into the atmosphere, they break down ozone molecules, leading to the thinning of the ozone layer.

Let us also come to trees, we need trees for vegetation and to keep our air clean. But we humans cut down trees without replacing them and this leads to deforestation. We therefore make animals that needs these trees to suffer.

Most of us eat and discard our waste anywhere we can without properly disposing them off or recycling those that are recyclable.
This is very bad and it makes our environment dirty and unsafe for habitation.

Are you moved to become a superhero to save the earth? or just become a superhero because of the contest?

I am moved to become a superhero not just because of this contest but because of my love for nature. I want earth to be suitable for everyone to inhabit.

It is for this reason I decided to go around and clean all the waste in my environment. I separated the ones that needed to be recycled and burnt the rest of them. Normally the government appoints the last Saturday of the month as the day for sanitation and cleaning the environment. But this is so faraway, I mean you don't wait for a certain time to clean your room but we clean it everytime it is dirty. I believe it should be the same for our environment.

Here are the pictures from my clean up

Before the cleaning

How are the efforts of the local community to respond to current global issues?
| |----

In my local community the government sets aside a day to clean the environment and also provides for dustbins and refuse dumps in special places. All public transport are mandated to carry a waste basket and fire extinguisher and failure to do so will be punishable.
They also have a ministry of waste management whose responsibility is to drive around in their trucks and take these waste off the streets to where there will be discarded properly.

Is waste management in your place well managed?

Yes waste management in my area is well managed. My state (Akwa Ibom State) was ranked the cleanest state in Nigeria four years in a row. You can search Google for this information. The youths are also very responsive to sanitation days, but then the overall personal contribution is not there. People still drive old cars, cut trees without planting and dispose waste carelessly.

I will love to conclude my post by stating that it is important for us to put our hands together and fight for planet Earth. Im not saying we should go to war with weapons. But let us create awareness and be practical abour saving our planet from being inhabitable. That's how to be a superhero.

I invite @goodybest, @bossj23 and @adachukwu to participate in this contest.

Upvoted. Thank You for sending some of your rewards to @null. It will make Steem stronger.

It's good to see you're also contributing to the growth of our ecosystem. If only we could manage waste properly, pollution in land won't be a warring problem. Someone once said, will garbage bury us. Thanks for sharing. I'm impressed.

Thank you for your comment, I appreciate sir

One of the things I dislike is seeing nylon in bushes because the materials cannot decompose and dumping them in the wrong place is not hygienic, you have been able to show the steps you take to ensure the earth is safe for us to live in and I congratulate you for that singular act. Mars is not our home but the earth. Goodluck friend

Yes nylon is not decomposable and it destroys our environment. I'm glad you found it nice reading my entry. Thanks for your good wishes.

It's my pleasure friend.

It's commendable that you're advocating for environmental stewardship and taking action in your community. By raising awareness and actively participating in clean-up efforts, you're setting a positive example for others to follow. Encouraging others to join in the cause is crucial for creating a collective impact in preserving our planet for future generations. Keep up the great work!
