Batwoman Season Two Sees New Actress Inbound

The CW have been on a consistent roll with their DC Universe shows. From Arrow to The Flash and the recently concluded season one of Batwoman. This is something that main competitor has had problems with, no strong television shows. While in theaters it is a different story, on television DC Comics rules. It seems that Batwoman will see a new actress cast in the cowl and crimson wig though. Ruby Rose has stepped down from the role.

Finding a place for Batwoman

DC Comics have shown they do not really have a clue with Batwoman since her introduction. She has been in and out of comics, her own and guest appearing, for decades now. It does not help that DC Comics have attempted a Batgirl character as well. It seemed that the ratings for the Batwoman television show proved the character finally found a home.

“I have made the very difficult decision to not return to Batwoman next season,” Rose said in a statement “This was not a decision I made lightly as I have the utmost respect for the cast, crew and everyone involved with the show in both Vancouver and in Los Angeles.”

Season two is coming

Warner Bros Television have made it clear that season two Batwoman is coming. Currently set to air new episodes in January 2021. This is great news for fans, but the fact remains – who will fill Rose’s shoes?

Currently there are no rumors as to who that actress will be.

“Warner Bros. Television, The CW and Berlanti Productions thank Ruby for her contributions to the success of our first season and wish her all the best,” the two companies said. “The studio and network are firmly committed to Batwoman’s second season and long-term future, and we — along with the show’s talented creative team — look forward to sharing its new direction, including the casting of a new lead actress and member of the LGBTQ community, in the coming months.”

This seemed to come out of nowhere and was a huge surprise to me. Very odd since she's been vocal about having a hard time getting started in the US to finally find success and to then walk away from it. I don't think we've heard the entire story yet.

Oh definitely, there is more to the story than what we are seeing here. I have seen fans saying they "heard" or saw a video (but cannot find a link to it now) about this or that going on behind the scenes.

Rather than report on innuendo like that I would rather wait for the full story to come out. A lot of others are reporting on those "I think I saw" comments as fact and as news. So sad that journalism has lowered to that level.

Me personally, I had not heard of her before the Batwoman role. Her personal life (sex life for instance) doesn't matter to me so it was not like I was the demographic they were going for here (nor in the comics as I learned the character is at least bi-sexual if not lesbian). Again, no biggie to me. I also don't care if a character is gay. Just never understood the outrage those angles brought up. Same for race and gender actually. If the stories are good and interesting to me, I will read/watch/play it.

It wasn't the best idea, but it still managed to fit a very specific audience.
