Hi friends, hope all of you are well.
Today I will share with you how can you dye your dress easily.
From ancient times “Tie-dye” is using as textile dyeing technique, Tie-dye is very popular and easy way to dying cloth. In our country tie dye is also known as “batik”.
I like batik print very much. I like to wear batik cloths. You can use batik printed dress everywhere. Yes friends, today I will share how to make batik print dresses at home.
What is tie-dye?
Tie-dyeing is a method of dying by hand in which cloth are tied tightly then just a dyebath can give a new look.
Types of tie-dye technique:
There are different types of tie-dye. Spiral, sunburst, folds, and lightning are the most popular tie-dying techniques. I tried every types of technique. Today I will share spiral technique, which is very easy.
Materials for tie-dye:
*100% cotton cloth. polyester will not good. I use cotton fabric cloth for dying. You can also use rayon and silk but it should be 100% natural. Natural fibers can hold color well.
*Soda Ash or Sodium carbonate
*Rubber Bands
*Plastic bin or buckets
*water
*Gloves
*Textile printing powder or liquid vat color.
Dyeing Method:
Step 1, I prepare my dye mixture with hot water. I use my bucket for mixing colors.
Step 2, In this step, I prepare my fabric. I wash my Panjabi to remove starch.
Step 3, Fabric should be tied well with rubber band. Here you can choose any kind of shape. I use spiral shape for Panjabi.
Step 4, Before apply the dye, take the tied fabric and soak it in sodium carbonate for 5-15 minutes. Use one cup of sodium carbonate per gallon of warm water. In this time don’t forget to wear gloves because, sodium carbonate can irritate the skin. this is very important step for dying process because the sodium carbonate changes the pH of the dye and allows it to react with the garment fibers. this enables the garment to possess brighter colors.
Step 5, Apply the dye according to your wish. Here, I use Blue color for dying. Then let the fabric sit some moments for hold color well.
Step 6, Wash your cloth with clean water. You can also use detergent for washing.
Step 7, Dry your clothes in the sun.
Yes, friend your new dress is now ready with a new look. Thanks to all.
