MY HOLIDAY TIME

I am a Yoruba lady from Nigeria. I live in Lagos, the center of excellence. I am a 400L Nursing student of the university of Lagos. I just finished writing my first sesmester exams after a prolonged stay at home due to the COVID-19 Pandemic and ASUU Strike.

The exam period was so stressful. It really affected my mental health and made me depressed for some weeks. I am happy we were given a month holiday. It is was an opportunity for me to rest , recharge and bond with my family members.

I spent my holiday at home. I am really an indoor person and I don’t like too much outing ( Probably because I don’t have the money to spend on outings) I really don’t keep much friends. I still don’t know why , maybe because that’s my personality type.

I spent my holiday watching the 6th season of the Nigerian idol. It was really an interesting show where talented singers from all over the country come to Lagos( where the competition is being held) to show the world what they have on the inside of them and then one person wins a cash prize of millions of naira and a recording deal with a recording label

Registration for the contest was free. It saw a lot of Nigerians , thousands of them come from all over the country for the first audition. Thousands of people were screened out and the ones who were lucky got a golden ticket to the next round.

The contest was tough, fun-filled, and full of laughter. The contest really proved that we have a lot of talent singers in my country but unfortunately they are not on mainstream. The contest for some of the contestants proved to them that they were not ready and still needed to put in so much work.

I had a really interesting holiday. To some people , it may sound boring but to someone like me it was the best moments I have had.

I am back in school but I look forward to the next sesmester break and I also dream of auditioning for the next Nigerian Idol singing contest and maybe becoming the next Nigerian Idol.
