Leap Year Art 2.29

in hive-156509 •  5 years ago

It's the already the seventh day of March and I've forgotten posting my drawing for the leap year last February 29. I even forgot to post it on my Instagram art account. 😂🤦🏻‍♀️ Anyway, I don't have a choice but to post it now. I can't wait for another four years. Haha! Leap Year is symbolized by frogs, because frogs leap. 😆

Here is the finished drawing. My idea for the character's look is just spontaneous. The skirt is inspired by those Korean skirts I see online. Lol. It also looks similar to with my P.E. short during elementary. Lol.

Process:

For the first step, I drew a draft to do the line art easier. I used blue lines because the color is light and will not be much confusing with the line art.

Second, the lineart. I used different layers for the face, dress, hands, hair, etc. Well, you can only use one layer if you want but I do use separate layers for each because I tend to draw past the intended lines and erasing the excess is much easier. This prevents you from messing up the other lines.

Third, fill the spaces with solid colors and adding darker and lighter colors for shadow and highlight. I also added some details to her clothes. Meanwhile, I just randomly ran some dark and light colors with a brush for her hair. 😆 I was making it late at night and kind of felt impatient to draw details for her hair. ✌️For the stockings, I used a dark color on a separate layer and lowered the opacity so the color of the skin could be seen.

Fourth, adding glow effect on the lips and frog headband. I used a brush to add a light orange color on the lips then blur it a little and change the effect to Add Glow. Then I lowered the opacity to around 50%. I did the same steps for the headband.

Fifth, adding background. I used solid color for the background but added two rectangles with prints just to add some style behind the character. I used some available patterns from the drawing software I use then clipped the layer to the rectangle's layer.

Sixth, I added a grain effect although I'm not sure if it is noticeable.

That's it. I hope you like my drawing. Hehe. If you want to see more of my drawings, feel free to visit me on Instagram, @ takyarts.

What a cute character! The eyes have a mesmerizing effect, I think it's the way the colors balance with each other. :-)

Awww.. Thank you! ☺️
