Imaginarios: "Muchacha dibujando", de Llüisa Vidal i Puig [ESP / ENG]

Clara observa con detenimiento los objetos que se encontraban asentados en la mesa antes de volver hacia su hoja de dibujo. Necesitaba tener lista su tarea de Dibujo antes de las cinco de la tarde, hora en la que iba a salir con su madre al centro de la ciudad para comprar los regalos de Navidad.

Sin embargo, la muchacha se dio cuenta de que no tendría el dibujo listo para ese entonces, pues tenía que hacer correcciones en cuanto a ángulos, perspectiva y forma. Odiaba desvelarse, por lo que dejó sus herramientas en el caballete y fue a avisar a su madre de que no podrá acompañarla.

Clara carefully observes the objects that were sitting on the table before returning to her drawing sheet. She needed to have her Drawing homework ready before five o'clock in the afternoon, when she was going to go out with her mother to the center of the city to buy gifts for Christmas.

However, the girl realized that she wouldn't have the drawing ready by then, since she had to make corrections in terms of angles, perspective and shape. She hated to stay awake all night, so she left her tools on the easel and went to tell her mother that she won't be able to accompany her.

Sobre la obra

Muchacha dibujando (en catalán: Nena dibuixant) es un grabado a la sanguina elaborado en 1903 por la pintora, dibujante e ilustradora catalana Llüisa Vidal i Puig, una importante representante del Modernismo en España cuya obra lograba plasmar con realismo la vida cotidiana de las mujeres de su tiempo. Esta ilustración fue elaborada para su publicación en la revista catalana Pèl & Ploma, la cual salió a la luz en septiembre de ese mismo año.

En esta ilustración podemos observar la naturalidad con la que la modelo, quizás una pariente o alumna, demuestra estar concentrada en la actividad. Al desconocer el espectador qué dibujaba la muchacha, podemos imaginarnos que quizás esté dibujando algún objeto, un animal o a alguna persona.

On the artwork

Girl drawing (in Catalan: Nena dibuixant) is a sanguine engraving made in 1903 by the Catalan painter, draftsman and illustrator Llüisa Vidal i Puig, an important representative of Modernism in Spain whose work managed to realistically capture the daily life of the women of her time. This illustration was made for publication in the Catalan magazine Pèl & Ploma, which came out in September of that same year.

In this illustration we can observe the naturalness with which the model, perhaps a relative or student, shows that she is focused on the activity. As the viewer doesn't know what the girl was drawing, we can imagine that she is perhaps drawing some object, an animal or some person.
