What's behind the hijacking of Twitter accounts owned by political figures and billionaire entrepreneurs this week? Twitter also opened the voice about the case.
For your information, Joe Biden's Twitter account, Elon Musk, and even Apple , became victims of piracy. Twitter said, it was because there was a cyber attack on a number of employees who had access to the company's internal tools.
"We detected a coordinated attack on a number of employees who were in control of internal systems and tools," the company said, as reported by CNN International , Friday (07/17/2020).
The hijackers uploaded a tweet promoting cryptocurrency . Other verified accounts, such as Kanye West, Barack Obama , Kim Kardashian, Warren Buffett, and Jeff Bezos, cited statements containing requests for donations of Bitcoin .
Under the control of the hijackers, Bill Gates' account writes, "Everybody asks me to donate, now is the time. Hackers also promised doubling payments to Bitcoin addresses. However, the entire tweet was later deleted.
After the incident, Twitter temporarily locked accounts of victims. When the investigation has given birth, the account holders can access it again.
Prior to this case, Jack Dorsey's account had also been a target of hacking, resulting in concerns about security on the platform . However, the company said, the hacking that occurred this week had nothing to do with the Dorsey account case.
