The number of positive patients with Covid-19 in East Kalimantan (Kaltim) has increased by 55, bringing the total to 2,106 cases, Wednesday (12/8). That number makes East Kalimantan the second highest number of Covid-19 cases out of five provinces in Kalimantan.
Quoting data from the National Covid-19 Task Force, South Kalimantan Province (South Kalimantan) is still the top with a total of 6,889 cases. The third largest is Central Kalimantan with 2,087 cases. The fourth and fifth are West Kalimantan with 429 cases and North Kalimantan with 303 cases.
The Covid-19 Task Force for East Kalimantan Province reported that the total number of suspected Covid-19 cases which previously were OTG, ODP and PDP, today there are 13,497 after an additional 520 new cases were examined in the laboratory.
"There are an additional 55 cases confirmed positive for Covid-19. Overall in East Kalimantan to 2,106 cases," said East Kalimantan Covid-19 Task Force spokesman Andi Muhammad Ishak in a virtual explanation, Wednesday (12/8).
Andi explained that the 55 new cases were spread in Kutai Kartanegara with 12 cases, Balikpapan City with 33 cases, Samarinda City with 8 cases, and Berau Regency with 2 cases.
"Today a positive case of death was reported in Samarinda, with the patient code SMD406, who died on August 5, 2020, in the care of the AW Syachranie Regional Hospital in Samarinda," said Andi.
On the other hand, cases recovered today from Covid-19, also increased by 51 cases, bringing the total number of cases recovered to 1,381 cases.
"There were 60 cases of confirmed positive Covid-19 patients, and 665 cases were still being treated. Meanwhile, 3063 cases were still waiting for the swab examination in the laboratory," said Andi.
