Goats are mammals belonging to the Bovidae family and the genus Capra. Goats have been one of the most important domestic animals for humans for thousands of years, mainly because of their benefits as a source of meat, milk, skin, and fur. In the domestic context, goats are known as Capra aegagrus hircus, which is a subspecies of the wild goat.

Goats have slender bodies with varying sizes depending on the type. Their ears are usually erect or hanging, and they have horns that curve backwards, both in males and females. Their fur is also very diverse, ranging from white, brown, black, to combinations of these colors.

This animal is known as an omnivore (herbivore), which consumes grass, leaves, and various other types of plants. Their ability to live in a variety of environmental conditions makes goats easy to keep, even in barren areas.

Socially, goats live in groups and have a social hierarchy. They also have quite high intelligence, being able to recognize the environment and human interactions. The distinctive sound of goats, known as bleating or bleating, is often used for communication between individuals or with humans.

In various cultures, goats play an important role. In some communities, goats are used in traditional ceremonies or as a symbol of good luck. In Islam, goats are also often used as sacrificial animals during the Eid al-Adha celebration.

Economically, goats make a significant contribution, especially in the dairy and meat industries. Goat milk, for example, is considered easier to digest than cow's milk and is rich in nutrients. This makes goats a multifunctional animal and very valuable for human life.
