With 3,26,098 new coronavirus cases on May 15 2021, India now has registered a total of 2,43,72,907 COVID-19 infections across the country. This includes 3,890 new deaths which have taken the total count to 2,66,207. The total number of coronavirus cases also includes 2,04,32,898 people who have recovered and 36,73,802 who are currently being treated. There were 3,26,098 new active cases and 3,53,299 new recovered cases on May 15 2021. The data for this was released by the Union Health Ministry at 5:30 am
According to the latest numbers, Maharashtra has the highest number of coronavirus cases at 53,09,215. Of this 6,01,235 are active, 47,07,980 are recovered and 79,552 have died. Karnataka and Kerala are next with 21,30,267 and 20,85,583 total COVID-19 cases respectively. Lakshadweep, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Mizoram have the lowest number coronavirus cases with 4,568, 6,542 and 8,499 respectively.
India currently has a fatality rate of 1.11 per cent due to coronavirus. The government has said more than 70 per cent of the people recover from COVID-19 with mild or very mild symptoms. Such cases may not even require admission to COVID-19 blocks or dedicated hospitals, the Health Ministry said.
Across the world, there have been a total of 16,18,82,082 confirmed coronavirus cases, according to the latest update. This includes 6,07,83,205 people who are being treated, 9,77,41,777 who have recovered and 33,57,100 who have died.
