Exchanges delisting USDT

Bitvavo, a crypto exchange based in Amsterdam, in the Netherlands, is another exchange that is delisting USDT.

That is an expected move as the team behind USDT didn't take the steps necessary to secure MiCA compliance.

Using USDT in the EEA is still a grey matter and crypto exchanges prefer to be on the safe side and avoid legal actions thus protecting their customers better.

Bitvavo have notified all their customers with USDT via emails.

This decision aligns with recent regulatory guidance from the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) and the European Commission under the Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation.

Key dates to note:

• Deposits, buying, and selling: Available until January 31st, 13:00 CET.
• Withdrawals: Available until February 3rd, 10:00 CET.
• Automatic conversion: On February 4th or earlier, remaining USDT balances will be converted to USDC and credited to your account.

Converting your balance
You can withdraw your USDT to an external wallet or exchange before February 3rd, 10:00 CET. Please find detailed instructions on withdrawing your crypto balance to an external wallet or exchange here.

Any unwithdrawn balances will automatically be converted to USDC at the prevailing market rate on February 4th, at 10:00 CET. Please note that while we will aim to secure the best available price, we cannot guarantee specific spreads.
