Hello Steemitians!
How are you all? I hope you are all well by the grace of the Almighty. I am also well by the grace of Almighty and your wishes. My name is Snigdha Roy. My username on Steemit is @snigdharoy.
Today I will discuss the insect-eating or carnivorous plant called Surya Shishir (Sun Dew). The name Surya Shishir sounds like something like sun or dew. But it does not refer to something as huge as the sun, nor fluidity in the dew. It is a carnivorous plant.

Yes, you heard right carnivorous plant. That is the plant that eats living things.
Plants are usually eaten by the herbivore. But any insect near these plants eats them. So it is also called a moth-eaten plant or flower. Their leaves are small and round with sticky traps. Exuding sweet sticky substances attracts insects to the trap, and later when the insects die, they decompose their bodies, absorb the nutrients through the glans of the leaves, meet their nutritional needs and meet oxygen deficiency. At first sight, it looks dangerous and harmful but due to its value, it also plays a very important role in agriculture.

And It’s Beauty!
Sundew leaves appear bright red colored. Dew particles seem to be glistening on them. These leaves covered with reddish dew points are actually death traps for insects. A kind of fragrance of sundew also spread in the air.
But it is a matter of great sorrow that this plant is on the verge of extinction. I first came across this plant in our department i.e. Botany Department, Dinajpur Govt College South, and was surprised to hear about its properties. I shared it with you today, I hope you like it.
Stay healthy and happy.
