I don't think there are many scientists doing such difficult work and trying to hide it. There are (sometimes valid, and sometimes frustrating) reasons that some scientific work is not as exposed as it could be. But there's unlikely to be anything on a large scale that can be classified as scientists hiding a lot of information from us.

Certainly, it would be nice to be informed of more scientific studies on a regular basis. There is much much more available than one with a casual interest could consume on a regular basis! Enjoy finding more research that interests you! = )
