Phase precession is a phenomenon where the underlying rhythmic flow of the brain's waves act as a metronome that regulates the timing of neuron firing in such a way that the timing transmits information. This phenomenon has been observed in rats for decades, but has been difficult to measure in humans. It has been measured in several recent works, however, and now a team of researchers observed it in data that was collected from 13 epilepsy patients with medical implants while they navigated a VR simulation. Beyond navigation, other researchers suggest that phase precession may also be used by humans for image processing. Still others suggest that it may help with speed of learning. Finally, this research suggests that studies that don't track the relative timing of neuron firing may be missing an important part of the picture.
For decades, neuroscientists have treated the brain somewhat like a Geiger counter: The rate at which neurons fire is taken as a measure of activity, just as a Geiger counter’s click rate indicates the strength of radiation. But new research suggests the brain may be more like a musical instrument. When you play the piano, how often you hit the keys matters, but the precise timing of the notes is also essential to the melody.
“It’s really important not just how many [neuron activations] occur, but when exactly they occur,” said Joshua Jacobs, a neuroscientist and biomedical engineer at Columbia University who reported new evidence for this claim last month in Cell.

The article is a good read. I learned a lot of new ideologies. I have been into rapid learning for a while, especially after I came across Scott's journey of completing the MIT 4 years CS program in just one year.

Speaking of rapid learning, I came across this today: 11-year-old graduate announces plans to achieve immortality by 'replacing body parts with mechanical parts'. Apparently, the record for the youngest college graduate is 10.
I wasn't familiar with Scott Young, so thanks for the tip! That's pretty impressive, too.

The achievement of the 11-years old is admirable, but I think such people usually have a difficult time socializing.

Same with pain reception, being a pattern rather than intensity of the signal, which is why those suffering from multiple sclerosis feel pain where the body shouldn't normally be signaling it.

I am analyzing the accounts of lican, alevín and I realized that they are the same person since they comment to the same users at the same time. brismar also appears to be linked to these two accounts. please do not vote on this comment. These are just to alert you to multi-account usage.

Thanks for the heads-up. I'm not opposed to people using multiple accounts, since I do it myself, but a single person shouldn't use multiple accounts to farm rewards by impersonating several people.

I think so. My husband has about 7 accounts in steemit but he told me that he used it previously to create a healing route for a community that he was creating for a long time but he never received the support that they had offered him at that time.
What the two accounts mentioned above do, I think this act is wrong since they take advantage of the author to grow the account or simply sell the accumulated steem later. I know that you have 5 accounts, normally you use them to vote for your followers and create publications these are suitable, I do not see it badly because you are helping others also rewarding them generously in the comments.
That in my opinion you are among the few users who usually give a 100% vote to their followers for a comment.

When talking about metronome and waves, I imagine an orchestra where the conductor keeps everything in order, synchronized. The same happens in the brain, these waves called metronome allow there to be harmony and the brain information to flow like music flows in a large orchestra.
