Description: "“Right-clickers” begone!"

For as long as crypto believers have been using NFTs (non-fungible tokens) as profile pictures on Twitter, there’s been skepticism about the durability of “ownership” over these digital assets.

Sure, you might “own” that cartoon monkey in your profile picture, in the sense that the token is affixed to your Ethereum address on an immutable, append-only ledger – but what’s stopping me from just right-clicking the image and setting it as my profile picture, too?

Now, after months of anticipation, Twitter has released an official verification mechanism for NFT profile pictures.

Discussion Question: How could the Steem blockchain make use of NFTs from Tron, Ethereum, and/or other platforms to add value to the content that's here? Before NFTs were even a thing, there once was a service called, @steemverify.

I think that the possibility of using tron's NFT in steemit is a bit far since the steemit team is focused on other things.

A couple of days ago I read an article that talks about a new social network that is based on the fact that your publication will automatically become an NFT, you can read it here.

El español Daniel Santos crea la primera red social descentralizada de NFT

I recommend you use the google translator or translate the page into your native language since the article is in Spanish.

For now, NFT verification is available only for users with Twitter Blue, the company’s $2.99-a-month subscription service, which offers a streamlined user experience and an “undo” button, among other mostly cosmetic features. Source

I thought this was for free, didn't realize Twitter Blue was a subscription based service. Guess this is mostly supposed to appeal to rich people and maybe businesses, not sure who else would want to pay a subscription to Twitter.

I have wondered about this, too. According to this, the service targets "power users". Not much help, there.

One aspect of Twitter Blue is apparently that it gives access to a bunch of advertising-free content. I guess the $2.99 is cheaper than it would be to buy separate subscriptions to all of the covered web sites, so it might appeal to high-volume news consumers, whoever that may be.

The number of people and organisations interested in NFT is increasing rapidly. This proves how much trending the NFT is. I hope soon NFT is will be more popular than Bitcoin.

This Twitter decision is good since users can be more relaxed when showing their profile image, it is good that steem engineers can create something similar.

A big step for the development of the NFT industry. Elon Musk's Twitter NFT critique is hilarious.

Thanks for the information regarding the official verification mechanism for NFT profile pictures. Regards.
