Wake up Kitty

in hive-161155 •  11 days ago

I have three cats at home, three girls.

The first one, who appeared at our place, we named "Asya." Her coat is snow-white, but I think she's just an ordinary street cat. My daughter picked her up on the street about 8 years ago when she was still a kitten. Ants were crawling on her, and she was very weak, but we managed to save her.

The second cat came a few years later. Our friends gave her to us when she was a few months old. We named her "Murka." Now she’s the largest of the three, and her breed is "British Shorthair," with a gray coat.

The third cat came just over a year ago. There was a fire not far from us, and at that moment, my wife was there. When the firefighters saved the kitten, who had inhaled smoke, my wife took her in. We took her to the hospital every day. The doctors said her chances of surviving were very slim, as she had been poisoned by the carbon monoxide from the fire. But we were lucky, and she survived. We named her "Coal," as her color is also similar to coal.

There are no problems with Murka and Coal, but Asya...

Asya constantly pees on my things: on my sneakers, T-shirt, backpack — on everything I didn’t manage to put in the closet. She usually does this with my things at night, and I find the problem in the morning.

I approach her — she always sleeps in the same spot — and with the words "WAKE UP, KITTY," I pick her up. At that moment, I want to strangle her, but I hold myself back and simply start petting her. At first, I wanted to give her to someone, but now I think she just loves me and expresses her love in this way... Let her keep peeing...

Maybe Asya is trying to tell you something. 😁 Years back, I housed a stray cat which I named Minerva. I found her on my door step, all dirty and very weak and we instantly fell in love with each other. She used to sharpen her nails, not on the furniture or the wood post I got her, but on the clothes I left around the house. I was living alone then and you know man caves... Well, Minerva disciplined me into keeping all my chothes nearly ranged inside the closet. 😁
I miss that cat a lot. Thanks for making me remember.
Cheers,
Pedro

Since I have three cats at home, and Asya is the eldest and acts like the boss among them, maybe this is her way of telling them:
"Don’t even think about looking at this handsome guy, he’s my boyfriend!"🤣🤣🤣
Thank you so much for your comment, Pedro!

It's always a pleasure to meet fellow cat persons.
Have a great sunday.
Cheers.

Thank you, Pedro! I wish you to get all those tasks done today that we usually leave for the weekend, and don’t forget to simply relax, like lying on the couch, for example😉

I will. BTW: Where are you from? To be awake at this time, you are probably further East in Europe than myself.

I’m from Kazakhstan, it’s 10 a.m. here now.

Cool! I'm from Portugal. It's 5 a.m. :))))
Nice to have meet you. See you around.
Cheers.

See you again, Pedro! Nice to meet you. You really woke up early today😮

Asya constantly pees on my things: on my sneakers, T-shirt, backpack

We had a cat like that too years ago (30+) loved to pee on my ex his stuff... Only his 😐 (actually we laughed about it).

At first, I was very nervous about it, but now it makes me smile

It's because the cat likes you or territory. That's what it means the vet we consulted years ago said. It's actually, male behaviour the "spraying" to make clear this is mine and my terrotory. Before it never happened or?
Our cat stopped with it but I can't remember why/when but it was before our divorce.

She's not a cat boy; she is a cat girl. And I don’t even remember when she started doing this - probably almost as soon as she grew up.

I knkw she is a girl and so was ours but this is in aveeage what tomcats (male) do. That is what I intended to say. It's rare with females but they can do it as well. The soraying is a reason why many vets say you should castrate the tomcat at an early age to avoud it. Our tomcats never been castrated and never had such behaviour same for the present tomcat we have.

I remember how the cat also starred with the doormat I threw it out and she never did it on that spot on the floor. 🤔
Weeks later a new doormat was placed and she never peed on that one.

Soounds as if she sprays since adultry never punished her for it? Cat pee ruins items.
Btw, our cats are raised like dogs and they listen if you call, goout with us for a stroll and the ones we had before also if I let out the dogs. They do not sit on tables or steal out of the pans so I would say give it a try and raise her. Pee all through the house is far from great.

She's 8 years old, and I've tried to break her habit more than once. Maybe you could share how you trained your cats?

At first, I didn’t understand Asya at all, but I guess that’s just how cats are sometimes. Let her keep peeing, bro - she might stop in a few days... or maybe not?

I don't think she'll stop, I'll have to put up with her 😞

You can't really extricate yourself from her, can you? 😞

I can't leave the house just because of her😊

Shame. I really don't like cats like that; which is why I have Auggie. 😇

I also love dogs more. Last year, our dog Butch passed away, and it was a great sorrow for us

Was it due to old age?

It's always a great sorrow. 😞

He had a gallstone, and we found out about it too late. He wasn’t old; he was only 4 years old.
