I call to mind the first time I got my first beard, it was precious to me and I took care of it so often. The beard was fragile, I can polish it countless times in a day, and still keep checking up on it to see if it is intact. Even now that the beard is much, I still go around with comb in my pocket to dress the beard well.
I believe this is case for others too because I have seen a few witness too. Those with moustache also do the same.
To polish the Brass moustache is literal by saying you polish to make it shine or figurative by saying you dress it up to look nice always.
The polishing is a good thing though, it makes us looks nice.
