I have been hearing these words since i was a boy, "The gods must be crazy". As simple as it sounds, it has different meaning to different persons. We all choose to believe what we want to believe and there is no crime in that. In my own little way, i think it is an analogy used to respond or give a feedback to the higher powers of their misdeeds or a mistake they have made, maybe personal or otherwise. Some people will be grieved when they do not get what they want, or they lost someone, it is an avenue to make grievances known. It doesn't really mean in a literal way that the gods are crazy but they can do as they please.
