Whatever state of being one remembers..... (Contest: A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words)

Ben Carter had a good life. He had farm land, his wife and children. As he aged things changed. His wife became ill and passed away. His children were grown and moved away with families of their own. But Ben had his farm. Of all his animals, ducks, sheep, goats, the donkey, the horse, the chickens and cows his favorite was Ernie.

Ernie was a large pig and Ben had some special attachment to him. Ernie was very affectionate. He would run to meet Ben as soon Ben stepped outside. He wiggled and waddled and oinked little pig sounds and was very funny to watch. Ben always made sure to give him something special to eat. Five day-old leftovers that were left outside the frig was always a hit with Ernie. Ben tried to offer him fresh food but Ernie didn't have a taste for it. Ernie liked the old, half rotten, sour or stale things.

Ben was alone now and his affection for Ernie increased. Ernie made Ben feel like he was loved and appreciated and so the loneliness wasn't so bad. Ernie liked to follow Ben around and was with him watching everything Ben was doing.

One day when Ben was out in the field gathering hay for the cows a storm suddenly arose. A powerful wind with hail. The wind knocked Ben to the ground. And as he fell he hit his head. The last thing he saw before he lost consciousness was Ernie staring him in the face. No one missed Ben for several days. He never regained consciousness.

His sons took over the farm and caring for the animals. After some time they purchased a few more animals. Another horse, some more chickens and another pig. When Charlie the new pig arrived he seemed to know everything about the farm. He made friends immediately with Ernie. The two were inseparable. Their relationship was uncanny. It was as if they had known each other before. It was suspected that Ben had taken birth as Charlie.

There are scriptures in India that would support this. One verse from Bhagavad Gita states, "Whatever state of being one remembers when he quits his body, that state he will attain without fail." B.G 8.6

Yes, I read an English copy of that book you mentioned.

I was made an argument like this, it was about fleshly reincarnation: God does what he wants, when He wants and if He wants to reincarnate someone on Earth, then He does it.

Now today the sky is clear. Though, there is a storm river out in the Pacific Ocean headed our way. The temperature is the predawn read, 8 fahrenheit.

Will it get here or not? We need it, a snow pack very badly.

And, the early Christians believed in reincarnation of Christ. Again, folks like that can do what they want.

I myself, exposed to things others are not: I am aware of them think that once one becomes a spirit, bodies of the living can be inhabited by the spirit along with the soul.

The good spirits do no harm and help. As for the others, well... It explains a lot.

Nice. There's a lot more going on around us than meets the eye. If you know what I mean...

Such a touchy story and I believe there is a truth in it.

Yes. Me too.
