United Nations was established with certain objectives, its major purpose was to maintain peace and prosperity in the world. It has been successful in some cases, but could not meet all of its objective democratic veto power of five countries, lack of funds and Out-dated its administrative structure are major causes of its failure.

The United Nations was established to maintain peace and prosperity in the world . It has been successful in some cases but could not meet all of its objectives . It has prevented the world from out break of world War three that was its major purpose, but it could not resolved many regional disputes . It remained unable to resolve territorial disputes among sovereign States. Poor people are deprived of right to self determination. Kashmir disputes and Palestine issue are question on its credibility. It had failed in rehabilitation of refugees. Poverty could not be overcome completely. People in many countries of the world are still facing many socio-economic issues. The UN could not provide basic rights to all people. Violence against women and child abuse still prevail in many countries. As every problem has its causes , there are also some causes of poor performance of the UN. The UN faces lack of funds. Powerful states have great influence on the decision of the UN. Permanent members of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) influence its resolutions. The role of International Court of Justice (ICJ) is also responsible for its failure. As its headquarters, situated in the US, the US and its allies influence the decision of the UNGA. Administrative structure of the UN has become out-dated. It could not be changed with changing trends of the world. However, as every problem has its solution, the UN can be made strong by taking certain steps. In this context, structure of the UN should be reformed according to changing trends of the world. Veto power should be abolished as it is against the democratic norms. Every member state should allocate minimum 1% of its GPA for the UN. The UN should change its biased and prejudiced attitude.

As failure of the UN are concerned, it could not resolve many territorial disputes among sovereign States. These disputes become the cause of unrest in the world Kashmir is a major example of unresolved territorial disputes in the world that has not been resolved by the UN since many decades. It is a bone of contention in peaceful relations between Pakistan and India, as well for the whole region. In the past, Pakistan and India fought two major wars on this territorial disputes and many other skirmishes have destroyed the peace of region. Similarly Palestine issue is another glaring example of territorial disputes west Bank and Gaza Strip is a territorial dispute between Palestine and Israel it could not resolve by UN.

Moreover the UN could not ensure right to self-determination to poor people. The poor nations remain deprive of their right to self-determination. The UN do not play due role in this concern. People of Kashmir were unable to get their right to self-determination. They are struggling for their rights for many decades. The UN has made numerous resolutions for peaceful settlement of Kashmir dispute but could not implement any single resolution. National self-determination appears to challenge the principle of territorial integrity of States, as it is the will of the people. These territorial disputes appear as a result of unrest in the world. Thus, the UN remained unable to ensure right to self-determination to deserved people.

Furthermore, the UN has failed to overcome humanitarian crises in the world. It has failed to rehabilitate refugees. The people of Afghanistan and Syria are glaring example of refugees issue. In Afghanistan during war era, millions of people were displaced, but the UN could not take steps for them. Pakistan accommodated for two million Afghan refugees. Refugees of the Syrian war fled to other countries, where they faced many challenges. In August 2017 million of people of Myanmar become refugees. They were not accommodated by the UN they faced many challenges they were administrated by neighbors status like Bangladesh.

Besides, the UN could not ensure the human rights of all people in the world in many parts of the world many countries deprive of basic needs of life. In many developing countries, people are living below the poverty line. They are leading a very difficult life. They do not have easy access to drinking clean water, such countries people faced several socio-economical issues. The UN could not ensure them basic needs. The world Food program is the food assistance branch of the United Nations, it is the world's largest humanitarian organization. Its main purpose was to focus on hunger and food insecurity, but it were unable to meet all of its objectives. It has been limited to just few countries. World Health Organization was established by UN to mitigate health issues, but it has no access to remote areas of poor States.

Similarly violence against women and child abuse prevail in many countries of the world especially women and children who become victim of wars faces many challenges besides woman in developing countries like Pakistan faces various socio-economic challenges they do not get their rights. They face harassment at world places as weep as at public places they are depriving of right to education the UN entity for gender equality and empowerment of women also known as UN woman did not play due role. Likewise, the United Nations was unable to overcome terrorism according to a recent survey numerous causalities in terrorist attacks are more than other causcausalities in natural disasters. The UN did not combat with terrorism. There are many other states that have fought proxy war. This war effect especially on local area. Proxy war with significant effect occurred between the US and Soviet Union during the Vietnam. It has deeply affected the rest of the world, similarly hybrid Warfare aim to destroy opponents without engaging in open hostility. American’s approach to Iran is an example of hybrid Warfare. Hence, the UN could not overcome hybrid wars and proxy war.

As every problem has some reasons, undemocratic veto power of 5 countries is a major cause of failure of the United Nation. This power has made the United Nation Security councils useless .it has divided the whole world in blocks, these blocks support to their allies. In fact, this power becomes a hurdle in the way of the UNSC resolutions. For instance, recently, the UNSC has made a resolution on Ukraine and Russia war where Russia has been demanded to stop attacks on Ukraine, but Russia vetoed this resolution and still continue to attacks on Ukraine.

Secondly, the United Nation did not change its Administrative structure according to changing trends of the world, veto power has become obsolete in modern time. It is considered against the democracy. The UNSC is not completely functional due to P5 states of the word. It has changed the concepts of modern democratic states, and States cannot meet all of its objectives. As populations in the word is increasing constantly while the compositions of the UN is same. Its member states have increased, but its structure cannot full the modern words requirements. It could not make any reform according to changing trends of the word.

Thirdly, lack of sufficient fund is also a major cause of failure of the UN. The UN cannot meet to its objective due to lake of funds. It cannot allocate funds for Refugee. There are numerous people in many state of the word who rely on assistant. Occasionally it assists only those countries who would be useful to its personal interest. It plays biased role in this region too. Owing Lake of fund, it is unable to provide rehabilitation to refugees. It could not overcome terrorism.

Lastly, the powerful countries influence the decisions of UN. The whole structure of the United Nation has become functionless due to International pressure and interference. The UN headquarter being in the US, America and its allies have great influence on decisions of the UN. They have great importance according to UN these countries elect the secretory general of the UN and other officials, they take their works according to their will. The UN has become a puppet in the lands of West.

As every problem has its solutions, the UN can be made more useful body by taking some remedial measures. Undemocratic veto power of 5 countries must be abolished. It is against the democrats norms and value .it is not useful in the modern time. It is a major hurdle in the formations of equality. Moreover the administrator structures of the United Nation should change according to changing trends of the word. Owing to its out dated functional structure, it is not playing due role. Without change, it cannot become useful. The role of the United Nation Security Council should be broad. Power of 5 countries cannot suit in present. It should be abolished. Presently, every state is considered itself powerful. There is a dire needed to make reforms in its compositions by officials and its structure as well .
