Little Henry stood aside while letting out tiny sobs. At this moment, he won't be playing with other kids but sitting with his parents and watching.
Soccer was his favorite game and he'd anticipated this game since the beginning of the week. His school was hosting this event where the parents would come watch their wards show their skills. Henry was not lagging behind in some soccer skills and he'd been eager to show his parents once more, along with others coming to watch. It wasn't his first, but he couldn't stop ranting about it at home.
But alas! Just two days ago, he had fallen from the stairs causing him an ache on his ankle.
“You won't be able to play on the field this weekend, Henry.” His mom told him in the hospital after the doctor attended to his leg.
“No. I would!” the little boy said stubbornly.
Nothing was going to stop him from playing. It's just a little ache and it will go away before the weekend, he thought. After all, the doctor prescribed some drugs and ointment.
The big day came, and Henry ran around the field with his little peers who vigorously displayed their skills to their family. The spectators happily cheered them on, except Henry's mom whose eyes worriedly chased after her son and hoped he would be fine.
At a point, Henry began to feel a little discomfort in his leg but the stubborn boy shrugged it off. ‘They'd be done in a few minutes’, the thought ran through his mind except in the next minute he was proven wrong when he slipped and let out a pained yelp.
Now he could only limp out of the field, sobbing while the coach and his mom ran to him. From afa, the nurse ran towards him with their first aid box too.
“I'm sorry, he won't be playing anymore. Let the first nurses attend to him” the referee said to the coach and his mom who nodded. Even without telling her, there's no chance he'd be going back to the field!
And just like that, the little boy could only watch his peers play sourly after being attended to. At least he could watch, if he won't be playing.
I think @henryclive 🙂 secretly told you this story. I believe it became a lesson for him.

LOL, I think I might have spilled the beans...
@sterii what sorcery is this? 😳 but...thank you for beautifully capturing a story from my childhood, exactly as @alexanderkass had suspected (if only it truly were my childhood!😅)

this is soooo frustrating. It's hard to accept if you want something very badly that you can't. You know you can but the body refuses. Such a stupid knee.
You wrote a great story I loved reading you. Well done and thanks for joining pic1000.
A great Saturday.
