In my experience any good photographer can become a good Candid Wedding photographer.. Just have to keep in mind the following few things:
1. Meet the clients, talk to them, understand them and get a good vibe or connect with them.. By the wedding day they should feel free to call you any time to talk anything about the wedding..
2. Weddings always can create bit of tension to the bride and groom, especially, when there are a lot of functions/rituals to be done.. You always need to be cheerful, make them feel calm, relaxed and also crack some silly jokes to make them smile and get your shots..
3. Be prepared to get dehydrated!! You will have to do lot of running around with many functions and you will lose a lot of fluid.. Replenish your body with fluids..
4. Need to be fit and energetic.. Carrying two cameras for a two day marriage most times needs lot of energy..
5. If you are not with your team of regular photographer/videographer, get a good rapo with the new team.. Believe me, they can always screw/make your happiness.. Their lighting set up is always the key for a good shot..
6. Shed your ego.. The couple or any one who hired you may treat you well, but that may not be the case with all the relatives/friends who come for wedding.. Some may not even know what Candid photography is all about and keep asking you for their family pictures to be clicked.. Some may suggest you what to click and how to click.. Have a good smile with you always.. Stay calm..
7. Be prepared to be the last one to leave the auditorium in most cases..
