I think we should get a different bank account, my child remarked yesterday.
He had read something about the bank where we both have an account. That bank is suddenly changing very quickly and has now left the USA. The option of a free account would no longer be offered in every country. Our country is not included and given this information I wonder what will happen to our accounts.
To which online bank did all Americans, perhaps also other users of this bank, go?
Fortunately, there are more free bank accounts, so early this morning I reached for my phone to look for this again. I also wanted to find the information my child was talking about, but I couldn't find anything. Suddenly reviews and an overview of various online banks. We are now also 3 options richer. I gave the link to my child. Before we open an account, we want to do some more research.
An online bank will certainly soon be the norm, especially when the digital currency of the central bank is a fact.
Several online banks only work with an app. So you can't bank through their site. This should not be a problem for most people as many also do this with PayPal.
What is important are the additional costs.
Online banks do not have bank branches, but many banks in our country no longer have one. Even the post office is a thing of the past.
These additional costs and restrictions are where the bank can earn a lot of money. You cannot be in the red, neither is a loan and a debit card is not always included. Perhaps these banks will soon also let you pay with your face or hand or fingerprint? When opening an account, you must already show your face. So you are already known and what you look like will certainly not be kept a secret. Am I the only one wondering how to get your money or in the app if, for example, you got beaten up or had an accident?
In the coming week we will look at the different options. We don't just close it because it's free. Our experience is that an invoice is never settled within 8 minutes, too much goes wrong for that. Problems with recognizing a photo and accepting ID are two examples of this, and things also went wrong at a previous bank. This creates a lot of extra stress and frustration and that is the last thing we need.
