A gift of the selfish variety

Why is it we give presents to others but rarely to ourselves?
How come if we do so we are called selfish?
Does a new towel make a great gift or a pot to cook food for the family? Is it selfish to ask for something that makes just you happy or selfish if we do not appreciate a gift we do not need, like, or consider just for us?

Before you know the holidays are back. Many already started shopping instead of waiting till November or December which is good. Not only financed can be spread but you do avoid a lot of stress if you have enough time to find the right gift. If you intend to celebrate this year, no matter the state in the world, it's a good idea to start early too. Those I know haven't changed their likes, hobbies or tastes for years and if you are close to those you want to buy a gift for you know what they like.

The question is if we know what we like.
Do we like to buy something for someone else at all, can we afford it or is there another reason why we like to pass? It is not selfish to admit we had it with the pressure, buying constantly for others and to realize you could have traveled for all the money you spent on presents the world, realize your dream.

If it comes to celebrations these are not just for families and friends.
In a world with more and more single people and an increase in low self-esteem, it's not only good but necessary to invest in yourself. It is important to celebrate with the one you spend your entire life which is you. There is nothing selfish about that. Pampering yourself, and taking the time to buy that gift for you means you invest in yourself and find yourself worthy.
Buy, reward yourself with whatever you like or may need. Buy through the year -wrap it in paper if you like - and fill a box with all those goodies no matter if they are small or big. At your birthday or the end of the year, you give yourself this box, a gift of the selfish variety, and will be surprised (we easily forget what's in that box), and can be happy about what we did for us our best, closest friend.

It is important to celebrate you exist, are worthy, to treat the inner you. Do not wait till others will remember you. It's up to you to make yourself happy and just doing good to others doesn't do the trick. Happy people shine and need to be noticed. There's nothing wrong with being selfish after all if you feel good it shows which reflects on others too.

Real hammer🎣, this one! Resteemed in order. Done.

The beginning already hit
"...how come we gift others but rarely ourselves?..."
We forget that there's never going to be another one like us in this time , at this moment, forever 💙

I like the idea of loving yourself instead of waiting for others to give you a treat. It's a good idea dear friend.
