I know nothing about trigonometry and if you like to know more you can look here if you know nothing I guarantee you, you won't after you read this text, that is if you finish reading it at all, every single word.
This is one of those few times I thought: sooo many letters how to get through it which I didn't (sorry person who took all the effort to type it down, it's too much to understand for those without knowledge and not interesting if you know all about it but now I think about it you for sure love what you wrote, are a fanatic and you wrote for yourself). I wonder why brittannica didn't do like usual: the meaning in short and some examples of how to use the word (not possible this time).
Since I wasn't focused on what was written I thought of what my maternal grandmother once said and it turns out to be true (it's checked, the family tree, official so to say): she is the offspring of Charlemagne (direct line not of one of the servants or whatsoever). So I read a bit about him, Karel, instead of The first major ancient work on trigonometry to reach Europe intact after the Dark Ages was the Almagest by Ptolemy (c. 100–170 ce) who has something in common with Charlemagne (unknown date and place of birth).
What I liked to read about Charlemagne is that he was in favour of educational reform and the restoration of the seven liberal arts (septem artes liberales) which can all be found back in the line of family (hopefully today in everyone's).

Trigonometry was like a bunch of formals I had to learn in order to get a good grade. It was so confusing!
One reason why it was so boring and abstract was because I didn't see the use of angles, tan, sine and cosine in the real world. Nobody is worried whether an angle is less than a number or whether something's equilateral. At least, the people around me.
I started to see and understand the concepts only when I knew how they were derived. Courtesy of a very kind Math teacher ❤️ How those bunch of geniuses made up a theory. And I can tell you, it became fun. In my own experience.
Trigonometry became real and useful only when I could understand how they got their theorems in the first place.
I think this video would be a better explanation of trigonometry:

The main problem is that those who understand/like it cannot explain. I still see those 2 teachers I had plus know their names...
Explaining something with easy words or making it visible is needed. People learn in different ways. Not everyone has a full picture in his mind.
Thanks for the great comment. A well deserved vote.
