Day 865: 5 Minute Freewrite: Tuesday - Prompt: cold front

Prompt from @mariannewest

Spencer turner off the TV and shivered. It was time to head for bed and the weatherman had just announced another cold front heading into the region that could potentially dump 18 inches across the upper Midwest.

This was not what made him shiver.

Within him, there was a numbness that had creeped in since he started feeling this gulf between him and his girlfriend. They enjoyed a sweet time during their Omaha road trip to visit his family the week before and then, the temperature dropped.

Drastically.

And she won’t even talk! At all. All she would say to him is that he didn’t care. Completely shut him out.

But what if she let him show how much he cared for her? Loved her. And was even ready to allow their relationship to deepen and see where it takes them. Up until this point, to him she was the one.

Until she met his family.

Was it something he did? Or didn’t do?

Well he may never know because the silence between them felt colder than the storm heading his way. Pure ice. And there felt no way that he could warm it up.
