“It’s easy to hate. Much harder to love,” she mused.
This dichotomy exists in the human spectrum of emotion. Some may think that they two are opposites, and want to leave it there. However, the really enemy of love is indifference. Not caring. Unmoved. Unwilling to exercise any emotion.
Back to hate -
As she scrolled through her feed, she felt her heart quicken within her.
Why would people say this to one another? Grasping her mobile, her thumbs were poised for a pithy response. These people were taking advantage of the crisis and spreading their hate.
So quick. So easy.
At the click of a button, forests burned. Isn’t this was the Bible said too? Something about a small spark engulfing the whole forest. It highlighted the power of the tongue. But here it was the intention of the thumbs.
Starting fires. Burning. Hurting. Easy throwing hate.
What if I treat the individual on the other end not as an enemy, but a person — a person that could be reasoned with.
So she her thumbs quickly moved to: “Please, stop this. Is this the best way to help the situation?”
Would this help? She sent it directly to the user handle in the conversation. Then suddenly, another responded with “Thank you” directed to her.
Maybe this will dowse the flame of hate.
