App to track plastic bottle recycling

Here is one news item that I thought was interesting today.

An app that tracks where collected plastic bottles are headed has begun to be demonstrated.

It is very simple to use.

(1) Put used PET bottles into the collection box shown in the image.

(2) Read the QR code on the collection box with your smartphone and register the number of PET bottles you put in the box on the app.

That's it!

The app then allows users to check the transportation status of the bottles collected and the status of recycling at the factory for each date and time of collection.
*Incidentally, there is also a mysterious nurturing element where the character grows according to the number of days you have put in PET bottles (It's just called PET)

What is wonderful about this experiment is that by visualizing the results, it is easy to see how one's own recycling activities have had a positive impact on society.

Human beings are more motivated by seeing things with their own eyes than we imagine.
I sincerely hope that visualization will motivate Japanese people to recycle more.

I think that if people could play with Tamagotchi or Digimon-like games with an element of competition, it could spread to many more places.
