Hello friends, I am very happy for this contest and it's my first time to post here, I hope to get good attention from my fellow Steemians. I will like to thank the organizer of this contest, because there are other sports activities we have no knowledge about or have some misconceptions about, with everyone's description of his or her favorite sports, we will develop interest for them.
My entry for this contest is about a sporting activity that is unpopular in my country and many have no idea about it or have not even heard of it. This activity game is known as Badminton.
Badminton is an indoor game that is played on it's court similar to that of the popular long tenis court. Badminton was first brought to my school when I was in Senior High two, and that was my first time of knowing it. We used to play it only on sports days, that is, Mondays and Thursdays in the evening, after classes hours. We didn't really know much about the game, but with the help of our sports instructor, we were able to study all the rules and later became perfect with the game. It uses rackets and a cork.
Cork and Racket
Badminton can be played in pairs of two or singles, with different rules. For singles, only the middle part of the court is used, and for the doubles, the whole court is used. Just like valley ball, it is involves swapping and switching of positions, with respect to some number of scores.
Rules in Badminton
- The cork must not touch the floor
- The cork must not any part of the player's body
- It must not touch the net
- It must not pass through the under of the net to the other court
- It must not go outside the playing court
- It's a point against when you play and it falls on the line
- The cork must be served diagonally to the opposite side.
When any of these rules is gone against, it becomes a point for the opponent.
Badminton is one of the sporting activities that deals with complete attention in the game. The cork is very small and without complete mind focus on the game, one can easily miss the cork and it will be a point against him.
We had played inter-classes competitions and even inter-schools. I began to be serious with my trainings when we played against another School and we were defeated. It is also a game if one does not play it he or she won't understand that it requires a lot of stamina, it deals with running in the court, back and front, left and right. Before one plays a game, he or she must go through some warm-up to keep the body active as the game requires activeness and absolute concentration.
This is the game I enjoyment most among all sporting activities.
Thank you @japansteemit for the contest and I invite @tardigrade180 and @dave123 to also participate.
