For the past two weeks I have been doing beta testing for our NFT Marketplace on Cardano, https://zempafy.com. In order to do that I had to mint my own NFTs to add to the marketplace. To do that I used our NFT minting service called ADA Tokenizer, https://adatokenizer.io. In this post I'll explain a bit about NFT's as well was our service.
An NFT is a "Non-fungible token" meaning it can not be divided, there is only 1. The way NFT's work is you add properties to the token like an image, a url, metadata, etc. Once minted those properties are recorded on the blockchain with the token. Because NFT's are still fairly new, we still don't know the extent of things we can add to them or the utility they can provide. It's very interesting, especially as you make some and add different properties to them. Take fore example the series I am working on, Tokyo Mangafied. It's pictures I am taking around Tokyo and then filtering them to look like something out of manga. The properties I am adding to my NFT's for this collection are GPS coordinates, for where the image was taken, as well as the original image on IPFS. If you don't know what IPFS is, it's the decentralized InterPlanetary File System. People run nodes that host all the data for the InterPlanetary File System, a decentralized internet, like Steemit, but bigger and broader in scope.
So the person who purchases my NFT get's that information in the metadata attached to the NFT.
For example, here is an NFT I just minted.
Embedded in it are 2 properties beyond just the image, the GPS coordinates and the original image. Here is the original image on IPFS,
The actual hash is bafybeia5ydra2vznmtkp44rgfpf6a4czqojnxc5qolkphikhbzqgff4akq so if you are using Brave browser you could view the hash/image directly without doing through a 3rd party like Fleek.
It's very exciting to use this tech and see it growing and working. It really feels like 2017 again where the possibilities were endless. NFTs are only the beginning, in a few more years stuff we haven't dreamed up yet will be appearing. I look forward to sharing in it with you, the early adopters of crypto.
If you are interested in making NFT's from 1 to 20,000 I can help you do that through our service. Minting 1 NFT costs 7.75 ADA(cardano). There is no sign up fee, no royalty fee, it's totally free except for the minting fee. We use Nami wallet for our system, https://namiwallet.io/ It's actually quite fun and I would encourage everyone to try to mint one so you can understand the tech and potential.
