We don't seem to find anyone who didn't see 'Alif Laila' on BTV when we were little in the nineties. A foreigner dubbed in Bengali has a different feeling to everyone from that serial child to teenager or young to old. Later many more foreign fiction and many Iranian films were also dubbed in Bengali and broadcast in our country. They have also gained more or less popularity. In recent times, ‘Sultan Suleiman’ or ‘Yusuf Zulekha’ has also received a good response among a certain class of viewers. Despite having seen this heartbreaking movie on Netflix in English subtitles before, after watching a lot of positive reviews on social media for a while about 'Miracle in Sale No. Seven' released on the local OTT platform 'Charki', I took a look at the Bengali dubbed version of this Turkish movie with my family.
The movie of the same name is actually a remake of the Korean movie released in 2013. However, the remake does not mean that it has been copied frame by frame. The political context of Korea and Turkey, the way of life, their different cultures, the way of thinking of the people are all different and these important issues have come up differently in the two movies. Released in 2019, this Turkish movie has become a unique and extraordinary place even though it has been remade. Each country often dubs the language and dialogues to facilitate the understanding of the language problems of their visitors. However, it is also true that most of the time the dubbed version is not able to convey the real feeling of the movie. Undoubtedly, the wheel is quite successful in this case. Because the age of each character, the way of life and the conversations of different classes of people in the society have been brought to life by the appropriate dubbing artists.
Almost all of us who keep track of movies know this human story. The story of the movie is about a mentally unbalanced father named Mahmud and his daughter Ova. Although father and daughter, their IQ is the same age. Coincidentally, Mahmoud was involved in the murder of another girl of his own age. The father of the dead girl is a commander. During the rule of the army in the country, the influence of army officers or officers and the fact that the common people do not always get a fair trial is also highlighted in the movie quite well. The number 6 is the room where Mahmud is kept in the jail for murder. And the movie is named after this number seven. It is easy for a simple father and daughter to live as friends. At first, the other criminals in cell number seven also used harsh words with Mahmud to kill a baby girl. However, they later realized that Mahmud was accidentally guilty. Because of the age and mental imbalance of his mind, they understand that he is being framed.
In the meanwhile, Ova appeared in that food cell, hiding in a food trolley, to meet her father. The time of meeting parents will bring tears to the eyes of any spectator. If you want to know what happens next, you can take a look at this moving movie.
From the beginning of the movie to the very end, this story will make us laugh and cry at the same time. I have heard many people cry with tears in their eyes but it can also be felt through this movie. The 132-minute movie directed by Mehmet Ginger Oztekin is literally a masterpiece.
This full and appropriate remake movie from Turkey has got box office success, popularity among the general audience, Oscar nominations. However, it is surprising that this movie has gained so much love and popularity all over the world. The Bengali-speaking audience of Bangladesh was newly added to that love list for the welfare of Charki. This is a beautiful example of a foreign story that can be appreciated if it is presented in its own language. It is desirable that Charki will give better content like this in the future.
