my community is amala. Amala as a community has 18 villages and 3 king governing it (Eze ikem, Eze emekeze, and Eze Obiogu 1).

ABOUT AMALA
during the world war 11, Amala people deserted from their base, the community was empty as everyone ran away for refuge due to killing. the war affected the people of amala as it was part of the place the war happened. Amala has a common boundary with Etche in Rivers state, whereby one can easily trek to the common boundaries. during this war, most of the indigenes of Amala ran to etche leading them into marrying people of etche to remain there for safety.
amala has boundary with other communities as well, such as Elelem, Ntu, Eziama, Alulu, Oburu and Obokwe. at the course of this war it lead them into marrying people from this nearby communities. because the war ended in Amala, the called Amala OBIOGU which means (heart of fight).

THEIR RETURN
the people of Amala returned on the 31st of December after the war has ended and the marked that day as a special day and thereafter celebrate their return after war on that day and that was why they called it AMALA DAY.

CELEBRATION OF AMALA DAY
in celebrating Amala Day, every village has to provide special dancers that will match out with the head King of Amala the (OBIOGU 1 OF AMALA) And all the men and women in the 18 villages will come out to Amala Central School where their canopies will be mounted.
Amala day is not only used for celebration, it is a day of empowerment, helping the needy, less privileged, widows and widowers and to know the people that needs help and the villages that needs support. In every home, people make preparation of food and drinks for visiting friends.

THINGS THEY DO ON AMALA DAY AND THE KIND OF FOOD THEY EAT
after presenting special dancers from each villages as a welcome, presentation of kolanut will be done according to the senior village (the village that returned first after the war). each village will present their special food for the high tables. Amala is also the day of coronations like, Nze of any village, Ada (first daughter) Amala, Opara (first son) Amala. Children find it fun going to field to play with children from other villages, buying ice cream and throwing knockout, snapping pictures and exchanging phone numbers.

CONCLUSION
It is a very special day in my village, that both the home and abroad look forward to seeing that day. it is always the time that every member of the house gather together, to meet and know their extended families. it is a joyful moment that the abroad people can't afford to miss as far as you are from Amala community.
