Elias watched as Finn adjusted to his new role as apprentice. The young man’s enthusiasm for the craft was unmatched, and soon, Finn had mastered the basics of clockmaking. But Elias knew the true test lay in understanding the ancient clock and its mysterious powers.
One evening, after the shop had closed, Elias led Finn to the back room where the ancient clock stood, its face glowing softly in the dim light. "It's time you learned the truth," Elias said, his voice heavy with the weight of responsibility.
Finn's eyes widened as Elias recounted the events of that fateful night with Clara, the woman who had unlocked the clock's secrets. "This clock," Elias continued, "is not just a timepiece. It's a key—a key to the flow of time itself. It can alter the past, shape the present, and influence the future."
Finn felt a chill run down his spine. "But why me? Why did you choose me to learn this?"
Elias placed a reassuring hand on Finn's shoulder. "Because you have a gift, Finn. Your connection to time is stronger than anyone I've ever met. But with this gift comes great responsibility. The clock must be used wisely, or the consequences could be disastrous."
As the days passed, Elias began teaching Finn how to interpret the symbols on the clock's face and how to carefully manipulate its hands. Finn learned quickly, but with each lesson, his dreams became more vivid, showing him fragments of history and glimpses of possible futures.
One night, while Elias slept, Finn found himself drawn to the clock. Its hands were moving slowly, as if beckoning him. Unable to resist, Finn approached and adjusted the clock's hands slightly. The room filled with a soft glow, and in that moment, Finn knew there was no turning back.
The clock had chosen him.
