Stop the game to save the gold smuggling ringleader
When the smugglers were systematically smuggling gold, the revenue investigation department was able to catch the smuggled gold, and there was a lot of enthusiasm among the general public. Indeed, now all the smugglers will be caught and the gold smugglers' nets will be broken and all the smugglers will be brought to justice. The department also ran a good operation in the initial days. At the same time, Dawa Chiring, who is considered to be the middle fisher of gold smuggling, was also caught, but after that, the department could not even dare to attack the gang above that. Because various events and information have confirmed that there are some high political figures of the ruling party as a gang above that. However, the department has so far only been able to arrest the porters, agents and a few associates involved in gold smuggling.
In Nepal, the law applies only to small individuals and groups. Big individuals and groups make various arrangements and get away easily by spending a few crores of rupees collected from illegal activities. This is a series of corruptions since then. It can be generally seen that the present government and its machinery are suffering from the same old beliefs, but Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda and Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha have often announced that they will be tough on corruption and are determined to maintain good governance. There does not seem to be any harmony in their speech and behavior. If there had been coordination, their own leaders who were said to be involved in gold smuggling would have been arrested and taken to legal action, but the failure to do so has exposed their duplicitous character. Therefore, we have the reality that they have been portrayed as rulers who speak one thing but act like the same traditional rulers.
No matter how big a crime is committed by oneself, the act of protecting others but bringing others into the scope of action should be considered unfair from the point of view of legal rule. The law does not allow anyone to do Kakha and Pakha. Therefore, the current rulers and government machinery should stop all kinds of unfair practices. Now the government has given the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Police the responsibility of investigating gold smuggling along with the Revenue Investigation Department. Even if the CIB is allowed to investigate, it is seen that the government and the Ministry of Home Affairs interfere in it, so even the CIB cannot complete the investigation and bring the real persons to justice. This has been confirmed from the smuggling case of 9 kg of gold hidden in electric cigarettes. In that case, the CIB held some leaders of the ruling party as guilty, but later those leaders were spared while filing the case. It also confirms that our governance system is under dark governance.
There is no special party of corrupt people and smugglers. Therefore, if the government really wants to punish the smugglers and guarantee good governance, then under the Commission of Inquiry Act, a high-level judicial commission should be formed and given the right to investigate independently, and only then will trust in the government be maintained. There is no alternative to stop all the tricks used to protect smugglers under various pretexts and form a high-level judicial commission as soon as possible.
