Is Proto-Germanic *baumaz "tree" etymologically related to Proto-Indo-European *bheu- "to grow, to exist"?

According to @EtymOnlineOTD, Proto-Germanic *baumaz "tree" is of uncertain etymology (according to Boutkan probably a substrate word), though tracing it back to PIE *bheu- "to grow" is not unreasonable.
