Astrology for 21st January 2023 – A New Moon, a New Year and a new opportunity...

It's an important day as we have a new Moon forming at 1.32 degrees of Aquarius, that's less than a degree from the point in the sky where the great conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn occurred on 21st December 2020. Such a lot of water has flowed under the bridge, since that moment at 0 degrees Aquarius. From the top of my head, they including a global pandemic, war between Russia and Ukraine, economic crises and shortages caused by it, supply chain problems, here in the UK we had Brexit, the US saw Black Lives Matters and the George Floyd murder, the Me Too movement and storming of the Capitol. There has been rampant inflation, industrial disputes, climate crises, changing attitudes to gender and minority rights and many other things that I have not remembered. Safe to say that Jupiter and Saturn ushered in a wide range of unpredictable events that have affected everyone on the planet. Yes, this point in the sky is a very potent one, and we have more to come, as Pluto will get here in just two month's time.

However I have to concentrate on this day's events. The New Moon at 1 degree Aquarius, coinciding with the Chinese New Year of the Rabbit brings with it a new cycle of events and life. As is Aquarius' way, if you think you know what will start to occur, think again. As history has shown since the winter of 2020, nothing is going to be certain, and there are sure to be a lot of twists and turns. I guarantee this too – transformation will continue to happen, and change from a very deep and fundamental level. The New Moon will be conjunct to Pluto, so here will be the birth of something from the depths of our lives into the open. Maybe something has been cooking for a long time in your life, and is ready to be launched on the world? Maybe you have been considering a course of action, and now might be the moment to act? Remember that Pluto with the Sun and Moon will empower, but also disempower too. Maybe something has to be deconstructed or let go, in order to bring about a fresh beginning?

The New Moon will be sextile to Jupiter, and here is a chance or opportunity for expansion and learning, as you rush to make a fast and wide ranging impact. There is always the chance for moving too fast and too impulsively, and this is something that you should guard against doing if you can. There is one thing being brave and confident, but there is a danger that you might take things too far for your own good. Handy then, that we have a Venus Saturn conjunction in Aquarius occurring to put the brakes on our excesses. Saturn limits out values, and maybe someone we relate with well will hold you back, and bring some sensibility to things too. Two days after the lunation, the Moon will connect with Saturn and Venus, and this will bring you a welcome wake-up call to slow down, and to take your time.

So this is another important marker point in the regeneration of our lives after we entered 2023. More is to come, and things will slowly pick up speed in the months ahead. Don't expect instant changes though, as this is more of a marathon than a sprint, but all the same keep your eyes open, and you will start to see the awful experiences of the past starting to melt away. Trust me in this - a brand new and exciting reality is starting to appear in the distance.
