The 3rd February is one that was captured in the famous Don McLean song, "American Pie" in which he quoted that it was "The Day The Music Died". In 1959 on 3rd February, a plane crash took the lives of Rock and Roll Artists, Buddy Holly, Richie Valens and JP Richardson, otherwise known as the Big Bopper.

The three musicians were on a tour of the US Midwest, and because of adverse weather and bad transportation, they hired a plane in Clear Lake in Iowa to get themselves to their next venue in Minnesota. Unfortunately, bad weather affected the flight and all 4 on board including the pilot on the day perished.
