On March 3rd in 1931, the "Star-Spangled Banner" became the official national anthem of the United States. The song, written by Francis Scott Key during the War of 1812, had long been associated with American patriotism and had been played at official events for decades before it was officially recognized as the national anthem.

In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson issued an executive order designating the "Star-Spangled Banner" as the national anthem, but it wasn't until 1931 that Congress passed legislation making it official. The bill was signed into law by President Herbert Hoover.

Since then, the "Star-Spangled Banner" has been performed at countless national events and occasions, including sporting events, political rallies, and military ceremonies. The song's lyrics, which describe the American flag surviving a night of battle during the War of 1812, have come to symbolize American resilience and patriotism
