Things you need to know today in the Crypto market
😪 As the crypto market investors’ have turned their focus on the critical Federal Reserve interest rate decision, the flagship cryptocurrency, Bitcoin (BTC), continued its navigation beneath the important psychological level of $20,000, having slipped earlier Tuesday as low as $18,700. Nonetheless, the crypto leader edged 0.41% lower in the last 24 hours.
🤔 The rest of the largest cryptocurrencies painted a mixed picture, with Ripple (XRP) seeing the biggest change, bouncing by 5.89% to $0.41. Meme coin Dogecoin (DOGE) followed, with gains of 2.04%, while Ethereum (ETH) and Binance Coin (BNB) ticked 0.60% and 0.55% higher respectively. On the other side, the third-generation cryptocurrency Cardano (ADA) slipped by 1.34%, while Solana (SOL) dropped by 1.20%.
🤩 Meanwhile outside the top 10, HNTUSD secured first place on the top performers’ board, after leaping by 11.75% to reduce its monthly losses to 50%. XLMUSD came in second place after soaring by 7.91% while recording 276.47M$ in volume. Moreover, ALGOUSD bounced in the last 24 hours by 5.64%.
🏝 People can now pay for homemade food from roadside restaurants known as ‘carinderias’ using Bitcoin in Boracay, the Philippines island famed for its white sands and palm trees. The small resort town in the central Philippines, along the west coast, is being turned into a “Bitcoin Island.” Over the past four months, cryptocurrency wallet provider Pouch has been on an aggressive drive to increase Bitcoin uptake on the island.
⚖️ Sparkster, a crypto firm based in the Cayman Islands, and its CEO, Sajjad Daya, on Monday agreed to pay more than $35 million in a settlement with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) over an "unregistered initial coin offering (ICO)" in 2018.
🏦 The People’s Bank of China, or PBoC, will reportedly expand the deployment of its central bank digital currency, the e-CNY, to four of the country’s provinces, including Guangdong. PBoC deputy governor Fan Yifei said at an event in Suzhou that the bank would be rolling out e-CNY trials in the provinces of Guangdong, Jiangsu, Hebei, and Sichuan.
